Jim is a professor of music at the Boston Conservatory, where Maggi also guest-lectures. They are co-founders and directors of Singing String Music and the Institute of Music, History, and Cultural Traditions. 


A singer and guitarist, Maggi authored two books of history and holds a master's degree in American Studies. She wrote a weekly history column for the Boston Globe (boston.com)  to which Jim also contributed articles. In 2010 she was elected to the Council of the New England American Studies Association.


Multi-instrumentalist Jim Dalton is an educator, conductor and award-winning composer and arranger. On the faculty of the Boston Conservatory, he teaches music theory, ear training, and world music. His compositions have been performed both domestically and abroad.
